HI, I'M CARLOS
Five lūstra and hours.
Barcelona-born, Mallorca-raised, usually somewhere between aircraft, odd little engineering projects, friends, sea air, and a notebook that gets opened at the wrong times.
Spain
Island gravity.
I was born in Barcelona, then moved to Mallorca when I was around four. The island somehow gets more interesting and more fun every year.
Spain
Swim, bike, run, laugh.
We even did an Olympic Triathlon. Kudos Jan, Nero, and Simeon. The quiet TODO remains exactly where it belongs: beat them next year.
Spain
The long pull of airplanes.
Since I was little I have been around planes. Family and friends were in the business, so aviation slowly became part of the background noise of life, then part of the foreground.
Spain
All shapes and sizes.
It continues to be a big part of my life. Here is an ultralight along the coast of Mallorca, which is exactly the kind of sentence that makes staying on the island sound very reasonable.
UK
Cars, code, and test data.
I moved to the UK, got into tech and engineering, joined my university's Formula Student team, and wrote my final year thesis with them.
UK
Not everything was horsepower.
There were computers, pubs, long walks, cosy houses, quiet stretches, and friends. The UK years were very good at making things click internally.
Spain
The CPL chapter.
I moved back to Spain and got my Commercial Pilot License. It happened around mid-Covid, which made the process lengthy, strange, and probably more character-building than anyone ordered.
Spain
The good bit.
Some schools suck, and testing style could be better. But the solo journeys were magic: a little aircraft, a plan, some weather, and enough room in the sky to learn about yourself.
Spain
Engineering for engineers.
I work at Marple, a Belgian startup building test data analysis software for engineers, mostly around cars and planes.
Spain
Still flying.
I still do some occasional flying, recently completed my Airbus A320 type rating, and keep adding new ways to make the sky feel familiar.
Spain
Flight student.
I’m a flight student at Iberojet.
